Every year good intentions fail to be enough. The great news is, it really doesn’t matter. It’s not a failure because there’s a lesson there: the date is an excuse and it’s not likely to be a strong enough reason to stick with something, the sooner you let go of it, the sooner you are on your way to success. Simply start over today.
The next thing is the importance of short term goals within the longer term goal. For example, let’s say your goal is to lose 15 lbs–preferably 15lbs of fat not muscle! As oppose to changing everything overnight–which rarely lasts anyway–making small changes one at a time and celebrating each success along the way, knowing that’s bringing you closer to your ultimate success will make the experience more enjoyable, more rewarding, and most likely the results will be lasting.
This works for accomplishing all things. I realize this goes against the idea of instant gratification. But seeing the big picture, setting a big goal and breaking it into smaller manageable ones, will actually work.
